What We Do

Protecting Uganda's Creative Works

This platform is built specifically for Uganda's creative industry — tracking every play, every second, at every licensed location across the country.

Automatic Airplay Detection

Our system automatically identifies when your songs play at registered venues, radio stations, TV channels, and public events — in real time.

Fair, Transparent Royalties

Royalties are distributed based on actual airplay percentage — not popularity. If your song played 60% of the time, you receive 60% of that venue's licensing fee.

Copyright Protection

Register your creative works and protect them from unauthorized use. Evidence-based conflict resolution helps resolve ownership disputes.

Location Tracking

Every play is linked to a specific registered location — radio station, club, restaurant, hotel, or event venue — providing a complete audit trail.

Mobile Money Payouts

Withdraw your earned royalties directly to your mobile money account. Revenue advances are also available for established creators.

Collaborator Revenue Sharing

Define revenue splits between composers, songwriters, producers, and featured artists — automatically applied every time the song earns royalties.

How It Works

From Detection to Payment

The revenue model is based on actual airplay duration — not subjective popularity. Every second your music plays counts toward your royalty share.

1
Song Detected

Audio recognition identifies your song playing at a licensed venue

2
Duration Recorded

The exact play duration is logged with timestamp and location

3
Share Calculated

Your airplay percentage is calculated against total music at that location

4
Royalty Earned

Your share of the venue's licensing fee is credited to your account

5
Withdraw Funds

Request a payout directly to your mobile money account

Example: If a venue pays UGX 1,000,000 as a licensing fee and your song was detected playing 60% of the time, you receive UGX 600,000 — regardless of how famous you are.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Uganda's copyright management system.

The Uganda Copyright Management System is a national platform that automatically tracks where music is played across Uganda — at radio stations, TV channels, clubs, hotels, and public events. It calculates each creator's fair royalty share based on actual airplay and ensures creators are paid transparently through mobile money.
The platform serves three main groups: Creators (musicians, composers, songwriters, producers, and featured artists), Music Users (radio stations, TV channels, clubs, hotels, restaurants, and event venues), and Administrators (royalty collection bodies and compliance officers). If you create or commercially use music in Uganda, this platform is for you.
After creating your account and being approved as a creator, you can upload your songs from your dashboard. Each song goes through an approval process before it is activated for airplay detection. Once approved, our system will automatically detect and record every time your song plays at a licensed venue.
Log in to your creator dashboard and visit the Play History section. You will see a complete record of every detected play — including the venue name, location, date, time, and duration. This gives you a full audit trail of your music's airplay across Uganda.
Our system uses audio fingerprinting technology — similar to how Shazam identifies songs. Small listening devices installed at registered venues continuously monitor the audio being played. When your song is detected, the system logs the exact time, duration, and location. No manual reporting is needed from the venue.
